last week,
i went to a golf club in Kuala Lumpur to conduct training course.
i was told by the person in charge of the golf club that
some of the people in the course are illiterate.
in the end of the training we will have an exam
in MCQ.
so me & the other trainer asked them
"if you need help for us to read you the questions,
please come forward";
and 4 people turned up.
of course, they failed the exam.
but it makes me think:
three of them are in their 50s or 60s and they have kids or even grand kids.
dont they have their kids to take care of them at their age?
why would they still work as general worker?
we read the questions and the answers to them,
but still they failed.
wouldnt it be like, if they really understand what we are teaching, they would pass?
or we the trainers are not good enough at teaching them?
one of them, i think is in late 20s;
yes, late 20s... is illiterate?
a man in his late 20s is illiterate
and he works in a prestigious golf club
in Kuala Lumpur?
seriously if it were to be a man in late 20s
who lives in the rural area of Sabah or Sarawak,
i wouldnt have mind about them.
but somehow i feel sorry for these people.
maybe they didnt have any chance to go to school.
or maybe they just couldnt afford education.
man, i am thankful that my parents sent me to school.
